The Record of John
Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple—But—who shall stand when He appears? For He is like a refiner’s fire—And He shall sit as a refiner—and he shall purify the sons of Levi—that they may offer to the Lord an offering in righteousness.
Mal 3:1-3
14 Follow—holiness, without which no man shall [stand to] see the Lord.
Heb 12:14
2 The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined—5 And the light shines in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not—light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light—21 But he that does truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
Isa. 9:2; Jn. 1:5; 3:19,21
10 And his disciples asked him, saying, “Why then say the scribes that Elias must first come?” 11 And Jesus answered and said to them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things. 12 But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done to him whatsoever they wished—13 For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John. 14 And if you will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come. 15 He that has ears to hear, let him hear.
Mt. 17:10-12; 11:13-15
67 And his father Zacharias—prophesied, saying, 68 “Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he has visited and redeemed his people—70 As he spoke by—his holy prophets—74 That—we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear, 75 In holiness and righteousness before him—76 And you, child, shall be called the prophet of the Highest: for you shall go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways—79 To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.80 And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his showing unto Israel.
From Lk. 1
And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, “Who are you? “
John 1:19
Behold, I Show You a Mystery (the Way of a Man with a Maid)
(I Cor. 15:51; Pr. 30:19)
26 And God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness—27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. 28 And God blessed them, and God said to them, Be fruitful, and multiply—31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. 32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church—2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem—prepared as a bride adorned for her husband—9 And there came to me one of the seven angels—saying, Come here, I will show you the bride, the Lamb's wife—17 And the Spirit and the bride say, “Come.”
Gen. 1:26-28; Eph. 5:31-23; Rev. 21:2,9; 22:17
8 And the Daughter of Zion is left as a cottage in a vineyard—as a besieged city—4—labor not to comfort me, because of the spoiling of the Daughter of My People—11—A dry wind of the high places in the wilderness toward the Daughter of My People—26 O Daughter of my People, gird yourself with sackcloth—make yourself to mourn, as for an Only Son—21 For the hurt of the Daughter of My People am I hurt—17—for the Virgin Daughter of My People is broken with a great breach...
3 And the Sons of the Prophets that were at Bethel—5 And the Sons of the Prophets that were at Jericho came to Elisha—7 And fifty men of the Sons of the Prophets went, and stood to view afar off— 38 And Elisha came again to Gilgal: and there was a dearth in the land; and the Sons of the Prophets were sitting before him: and he said to his servant, Set on the great pot, and seethe pottage for the Sons of the Prophets— 1 And the Sons of the prophets said to Elisha, “Behold now, the place where we dwell with you is too narrow for us.”
(13 Was it not told my lord what I did when Jezebel slew the prophets of the LORD, how I hid an hundred men of the LORD'S prophets by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water?— 38 –they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.)
37 “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you that kills the prophets…”
Isa. 1:8;22:4; Jer. 4:11; 6:26; 8:21; 14:17; II Ki. 2:3,5,7; 4:30; 6:1; (I Ki. 18:13; Heb. 11:38); Mt. 23:37
**********
1 For Zion's sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness—4 You shall no more be termed Forsaken—but you shall be called—Beulah: for the LORD delights in you, and your land shall be married. 5 For as a young man marries a virgin, so shall your sons marry you: and as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so shall thy God rejoice over you—13 But now in Christ Jesus you who—were far off are made near—14 For He is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of partition between us— 15 for to make in himself of two one new man, so making peace; 16 And that He might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby—2 The LORD is building up Jerusalem: He gathers together the outcasts of Israel.
Isa. 62:1,4-5; Eph. 2:13-16; Ps. 147:2
1 And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars:— 2 And she being with child cried, travailing in birth—5 And she brought forth a man child—19 For the earnest expectation of the creation waits for the manifestation of the sons of God—22 For [which] the whole creation groans and travails in pain together until now—16 Seek—out of the book of the LORD, and read: no one of these shall fail, none shall lack her mate: for my mouth it has commanded, and His spirit it has gathered them.
Rev. 12:1-2,5; Rom. 8:19,22; Isa. 34:16
